How we came to be.
Our Mission
Once upon a time, in a small town named Warfield, there lived a man named Tracy and his fiancée, Latasha. Their love story was like a melody, harmonious and beautiful, and it was the kind of love that dreams were made of. Tracy worked as a DSP (Direct Support Professional), providing care and support to individuals with disabilities, and Latasha had chosen to be a devoted stay-at-home mom.
Their world changed when their son, Zayden, came into their lives. He was a bundle of joy, with eyes that sparkled like the stars in the night sky. But as Zayden grew, Tracy and Latasha noticed something different about him. He wasn't hitting the same milestones as the other children. It was a whirlwind of doctors' appointments, assessments, and countless tests that led them to a diagnosis they had never imagined – autism.
Tracy and Latasha were thrust into a world they knew nothing about. They had heard of autism, of course, but the depth of understanding and empathy required to navigate it was beyond their grasp. They were determined to learn everything they could to support Zayden on his unique journey.
As they delved into research and connected with other parents, they realized the importance of spreading awareness about autism. They discovered that while the world had come a long way in understanding autism, there was still much work to be done in breaking down the barriers and misconceptions surrounding it.
One evening, while Zayden was engrossed in creating beautiful bead patterns, the idea struck Tracy and Latasha. They decided to channel their newfound knowledge and love for their son into a mission – to create autism awareness jewelry. These beautiful, handcrafted pieces would not only be a symbol of love and acceptance but also a means to educate others about autism.
Tracy, with his skills as a DSP, and Latasha, with her creativity as a stay-at-home mom, combined their talents to design stunning jewelry. Each piece was crafted with care, incorporating the vibrant colors often associated with autism awareness. The couple decided to name their venture "AutismGems." They used the proceeds from their jewelry sales to make small donations to organizations dedicated to autism research and support.
The response from the community was overwhelming. People who wore their jewelry became ambassadors of autism awareness. Tracy and Latasha's story inspired others to embrace the unique qualities of individuals on the autism spectrum and to join their mission.
